Matthew Wilkie, MSW, ADC, LISW-CP/S

Matthew Wilkie joined Sandhills Medical Foundation, Inc in July of 2016, and currently serves as Department Lead of Behavioral Health., Adjunct Instructor at USC, and Vice Chairman of Sumter Behavioral Health Board of Directors. Matthew is licensed as a Licensed Independent Social Worker-Clinical Practice, Licensed Clinical Supervisor, and Certified Addiction Counselor.  Matthew has served as Regional Supervisor and Clinical Consultant for the Governor’s Office of Continuum of Care under the leadership of Gov. Nikki Haley. While with the Governor’s Office, Matthew implemented an evidenced based model, The Wrap Around Process, with high fidelity in the Region under his direction.

Matthew earned a Bachelor of Liberal Studies with an emphasis in English and History from the University of South Carolina. Matthew’s undergraduate thesis, entitled Pathway to Failure in the Southern Black Belt: Literacy Issues in Adolescent African American Males, focuses on literacy issues in young African American boys in southern states, and specifically addresses the issue from an English, Historical and Sociological perspective. Matthew later received a Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina’s College of Social Work specializing in the treatment of individuals, families, and groups.

Matthew’s research interest include: Men’s Issues; Emotion-Focused and Experiential therapies; Personality Disorders and the Enneagram.

Matthew resides in Sumter with his wife, Dr. Amber Wilkie, and their two dogs. They are active members of Bethesda Church of God.
