1. COLLECTION AND USE OF MOBILE NUMBERS 

We collect mobile phone numbers directly from individuals when they: 

  • Provide contact information during registration or intake 
  • Opt in to receive text message communications 
  • Interact with our services, website, or patient engagement platforms 

We use mobile phone numbers to communicate with patients via SMS and/or RCS for purposes including, but not limited to: 

  • Appointment reminders 
  • Billing notifications 
  • Care coordination and service-related updates 

Participation in text messaging is voluntary and is not required as a condition of receiving healthcare services. 

 

2. SHARING OF MOBILE NUMBERS 

Your privacy is a priority. 

  • Your mobile number will not be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. 
  • We will not use your mobile number for unrelated marketing without your express written consent. 
  • We may share your mobile number with trusted service providers solely for the purpose of delivering text messages on our behalf. These providers are contractually required to safeguard your information and use it only for authorized purposes. 

 

3. TEXT MESSAGING TERMS OF SERVICE 

By opting in to receive text messages from Sandhills Medical, you acknowledge and agree to the following: 

  • Sandhills Medical uses text messaging to communicate with patients for purposes such as appointment reminders, billing notifications, and care coordination. 
  • You are not required to opt in as a condition of receiving care. 
  • Participation is voluntary; however, opting out may prevent us from sending you timely updates regarding your care. 

Messaging Details: 

  • Message frequency may vary. 
  • Message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier plan. 
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. 

 

4. PRIVACY AND SECURITY OF TEXT MESSAGES 

Text messages sent via SMS and RCS channels are not fully secure and may not be HIPAA-compliant. 

Sandhills Medical takes reasonable precautions to safeguard your privacy by: 

  • Limiting message content to non-sensitive notifications 
  • Avoiding the inclusion of detailed Protected Health Information (PHI) in text messages 

If communication involves sensitive or detailed PHI, we will use a separate, secure communication channel in accordance with applicable healthcare regulations. 

 

5. OPT-IN AND OPT-OUT 

Opt-In: 

You may opt in to receive text messages through various methods, including providing your mobile number directly to Sandhills Medical and consenting to receive communications. 

Opt-Out: 

You may opt out of receiving text messages at any time by replying “STOP” to any message.   

  • You will receive a final confirmation message verifying your opt-out request. 
  • After opting out, you will no longer receive text messages from us unless you re-enroll. 

Re-Enrollment: 

If you wish to receive messages again, you may opt back in by replying “START” or through other authorized enrollment methods.

  • You are the authorized user of the mobile device or have permission from the authorized user

Sandhills Medical may update or modify these SMS Terms & Conditions at any time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
